For my first time coming to a football ground, it was amazing.
I came early for the match against Marlow as I didn't know what time to get there, and the steward was really helping and let me look around the ground and offered for me to sit inside as the temperature was -3°C.
The ticket pricing is amazing, with it making the match affordable for younger children and adults. This helped many people as I saw many kids enjoying the match from the stands.
The food looked good, as you can smell fresh bacon cooking from the stands. The cheesy chips looked nice, and will be something I will purchase in the future.
I purchased a cup of tea for only £1.50, which was shocking as I thought it would at least be £3. It was brilliant and warmed me up in the freezing weather, which was a plus.
There is only one improvement that can be made to the ground, and is to add places pitchside for disabled or elderly people in wheelchairs to sit as that is minimal in the ground.
Everything was brilliant about this ground, and this is why I will be coming back in the future. Come on the Winch ♥️🖤
A very warm and welcoming football club. There is plenty of car parking and super-friendly hospitality. If you arrive early, teas and coffee are available from a little cafe, but you are welcome to sit in the club lounge until it opens at 1-30 pm. Easy access for visitors with mobility issues. Children are made very welcome. Good luck with the rest of the season.
Lovely little club with local red cat brewery beer in the bar when I went recently. Pitch a little bumpy but not in bad condition. Main stand could be steeper and nearer pitch. Parking surprisingly free. Another visit today confirms all of the above and an entertaining 5-1 win for the home side confirming their playoff place.
Only about 15 mins walk from Winchester Rail station. Basingstoke are currently playing their home games there so not too much of an inconvenience to travel from Basingstoke to watch them
Ground[edit] The club plays its home matches at The Charters Community Stadium, Hillier Way, Abbotts Barton, Winchester SO23 7SR.
The City Ground has a 180-seater stand with floodlights, permanent pitch boards, advertising boards, terraces, car parking and turnstiles for entering the ground. Within the ground there is a clubhouse and a refreshments kiosk selling hot and cold food and drinks. The ground has a total capacity of 4500. A small terraced area (called the 'Bus Shelter') behind one goal is the home of the 'Bus Shelter Band'. A new stand was built behind the other goal during the close season of 2007-08 by members of the bus shelter band but this was dismantled 3 years later to allow for a training pitch. A new club shop was opened in 2006-07 next to the main seated stand selling club merchandise and other football related memorabilia. During the summer of 2014 a new stand was built behind the dug-outs and a fence was erected around 2 sides of the pitch separating the ground from the car park.
