10/4/23 Taunton Town 2-1 Slough Town in the Vanarama National League South. Adult £12 (very good at this level, not even discounted) Concession (Student £10), Programme £3, Badge £3.50. Very much enjoyed my visit to the ground but not the result. It was a very friendly and welcoming ground. On arrival there was plenty of food to choose from. You had hog roast, burgers and chips, sausage rolls and pasties but I chose a Mexican Chicken Chipotle which was good value and tasted fantastic for £5. There was also an outside bar which made it easier to get drinks. The ground has cover at both ends behind the goal, and has covered seats on the other sides. One unique feature is that to get past the seats on one side you actually walk out on the pitch in front of the advertising boards. The club shop is a decent size, as is the bar in the actual club. There are also some fabulous old turnstiles at the entrances to the ground. I enjoyed my visit very much, and hope to return next season. If you haven’t been I would highly recommend.

Always a friendly atmosphere, from staff on the gate and shops to the stewards in the ground. We like the fact you can wander round the whole ground, so you can change your view as the game progresses. Prices are not silly either. Lovely club, proper non league ground and a great atmosphere for adults and kids alike.

This is a local team who currently play in the non league, therefore is good, but basic. There is disabled access to the ground for matches.and there is probably permanent enough access to the main clubhouse (and better toilets, facilities etc) for all to use. But I am not a wheelchair user, so can only suggest this to be reliable.

History (from Wikipedia)

Stadium[edit]

Taunton Town play their home games at Wordsworth Drive, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 2HG

When they were formed, Taunton Town played at a variety of grounds in the Taunton area, including Mountfields, French Weir, Victoria Park and Huish Old Boys. They then moved to Denman's Park, Haines Hill where they remained until 1953. During that season the club moved to Wordsworth Drive (capacity 2,500) in Taunton, where they have remained ever since. Initially they leased the ground from Taunton Borough Council, but in the 1970s the club purchased the ground from the council and installed floodlights.[2] The ground has covered stands on all four sides of the pitch.[4]
