So my Football team Oldham Athletic were playing away at FC Halifax Town last night at The Shay Stadium, It was my first time at Halifax Towns Stadium. Set off at 5pm and headed over the pennines to Halifax, Got there at 6pm and arrived just as the Oldham Athletic team bus was pulling up. There is a car park at The Shay Stadium it isn't huge but plenty of car parking and plenty of disabled parking spaces but they charge you £5 to park even if you have a Disabled badge and you can ONLY PAY CASH NOT CARD. So parked up and headed into the The Supporters bar in the east stand and it only holds 200 people and let's home and away fans in but get there early to get a seat, I ordered a pint of San Miguel(£5.20) and you can pay cash or card. I finished my Pint then headed back to the bar for a Second Pint this time I opted for a pint of Carling(£4.80) and again you can pay cash or card, Modern interior, Few TV's on the wall, Plenty of Old pictures of Halifax Town on the walls, Polite and Friendly staff, Great pint and great atmosphere as the bar started to fill up. I finished my pint and headed round to the North Stand which Is an all Standing Terrace and then in the West stand they were some away seats too, The Stadium is an old throwback stadium, Old turnstiles, In the away end they were a couple of mobile bars and takeaways were you can pay cash or card, I paid £5.20 for a Pint of Angelo Poretti. Had a pint then headed onto the North Stand Standing terrace, Old school standing terrace, Fantastic atmosphere in the Away end as Oldham Athletic always have a large away following, Pitch was in Decent condition. Match was a close one and it ended in a 1 - 1 Draw, Great old Stadium, Rustic charm, Polite and Friendly stewards, High Police presence, Great pint, Great atmosphere. I post alot of reviews on Google and always give my honest opinions and feedback about my experiences everything from Drink, Food, Service, Value for money, Accommodation, Travel, Transport, Hotels, Airbnb's, Flights, Holidays, Football stadiums, Restaurants, Value for Money, beauty treatments etc. And we have over 28,000,000+ views. 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆

Super ground for an away fan with a great view of the pitch. Very good ground with ample parking outside, easy to find and handily placed for local food and drink.
Crying shame to see the club seemingly in the doldrums. I'd love nothing more to see them restored to their former glory. That's just the way I am. 'Alifax should be old division 3, or 4 at worst in my world.

Very small social club, no shop just a bench in the social club, although it does look like improvements are underway.

History (from Wikipedia)

North Stand[edit]

The North Stand was completed first (before the South Stand), which enabled Halifax Town to return to the Football League when it won the Conference in 1998. The South Stand was completed within the next year. The stand is usually where away fans are housed. In recent times the stand hasn't been used as Halifax Town's opponents don't tend to bring a large following of supporters. For rugby league the stand is usually open. It is a terraced stand.

South Stand[edit]

The South Stand is generally where the home fans stand. It was once the away stand. The stand has a bar in its concourse and catering facilities are situated outside.

East Stand[edit]

The East Stand is now the main stand at the Shay. In the past it has been the main problem at the Shay as when the Family Stand was demolished in 2000, construction on the new East Stand started but stopped when Halifax Town were relegated in 2002. The stand remained in this state until late 2008 when Calderdale Council agreed to put money into completing the stand. The stand was redesigned by Sheffield-based architects Ward McHugh Associates prior to the commencement of works. Main structural work on the stand was completed in December 2009, it then needed to go through safety checks and to be furnished inside. 28 March 2010; the new East Stand opened taking the overall ground capacity to over 10,000, as well as providing six executive boxes overlooking the pitch, which can accommodate up to 12 people per box and also new facilities as listed below.[6]

Skircoat West Stand[edit]

The stand used to be half-seating half-standing but became all-seater in 1998. It is the oldest part of the ground and is not the full length of the pitch. Like the North Stand it was built on the side of a slope and backs onto the main road.

Things to do in Halifax.
