Hebburn look to cut out the errors as they head to AFC Telford

Thursday 22 October 2026 · By Desmond Furlong

Hebburn Town travel to AFC Telford United on Saturday looking to end a run of two successive home defeats in the Enterprise National League North.

The Hornets were beaten 3–0 by Oxford City on 10 October and 2–0 by Scarborough Athletic on 17 October, when Tom Allan also had a penalty saved. Manager Daniel Moore was frustrated with the mistakes behind both defeats. “Individual errors have cost us again,” he told the Shields Gazette after the Scarborough game. “That’s five goals with errors in the last two games.”

Despite those results, Hebburn remain in a strong position for a newly promoted side. They are eighth on 18 points from 12 games, level with seventh-placed Hednesford Town and only on goal difference outside the play-off places. They have scored 16 league goals and conceded 21, and Moore will want his side to be far more solid at the SEAH Stadium against a Telford team that has scored only 11 times in 12 games.

The club showed its faith in the management team earlier this month. Moore and his staff were given new two-year contracts, as reported by the Shields Gazette, a sign of stability at a time when several clubs in the division have changed managers.

Hebburn have had a week without a game. They were not involved in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, and they have no midweek league fixture. That gives Moore time to work on the issues that have cost his side in recent weeks.

Saturday’s opponents also come into the game on the back of a dramatic result. Telford beat Darlington 2–1 on 17 October thanks to a 95th-minute winner from Kian Ryley, and that lifted them to 21st on 12 points. Telford’s ticketing information for the game was published on Thursday, and kick-off at the SEAH Stadium is 3pm BST.

After Telford, Hebburn have another free midweek, as they have no game on Tuesday 27 October. They then host Harborough Town on Saturday 31 October at 3pm GMT, following the clock change on Sunday 25 October, and travel to Merthyr Town on 7 November.

One fixture remains unresolved. Hebburn’s game at Spalding United was postponed because of Spalding’s FA Cup run. Some fixture listings show a date of Tuesday 17 November, but neither club had confirmed that by Thursday.

Moore’s message has been clear: cut out the mistakes. If Hebburn can do that, they have shown this season that they have the quality to compete with most sides in the division. A positive result at Telford would put them back on track after two disappointing weeks at home.
