Enjoyed a warm and friendly welcome to Merthyr Town last weekend. Proper non-league ground and fans. Would avoid parking at the ground as this is limited. Parked in town for £1 all day. The Merthyr cob is a must!

Watched the FA Cup tie. Amazing atmosphere. Bumper crowd. Live music in the bar. Great to see the People of Merthyr turn out to support their local side. Met Cardiff City, Swansea, Liverpool, Man Utd fans shouting for Merthyr standing side by side which was fab. Well done to the club, very professional and organised superbly. Great afternoon watching a great game of football. Merthyr has some very good players Well done the MARTYRS Good luck for the FA Cup first round proper.

History (from Wikipedia)

A housing estate next to it also carries the name of the stadium. It was also the home of the town's former club, Merthyr Tydfil F.C. There are plans for Merthyr to move to a new stadium on the edge of the town. The stadium would be part of the new 'Merthyr Village' development and have a capacity of around 12,000. These plans were thrown into doubt by the Welsh Government's rejection of the project in 2007.[3]

In July 2011, the newly promoted Merthyr Town FC hosted Welsh Premier League side Llanelli in a pre-season friendly at Penydarren Park, and thereafter took up full-time residency.
