Wow!!!! What a venue!! My daughter plays under 15s and it was AMAZING for her club and herself to walk out under floodlights and play a match in such an awesome stadium and pitch!!! Her experience playing and winning here will be remembered forever!!! Best in the valleys without a doubt!!! FACT!!!

Great welcome. Friendly fans. Great game including a goal for the opposition in the first 10 seconds. Equaliser was a great solo effort. Only down sides were the ball being in the air so much that it was head tennis at times and the snack bar not being open. Missed my match cup of tea. The flag is brilliant.

History (from Wikipedia)

A housing estate next to it also carries the name of the stadium. It was also the home of the town's former club, Merthyr Tydfil F.C. There are plans for Merthyr to move to a new stadium on the edge of the town. The stadium would be part of the new 'Merthyr Village' development and have a capacity of around 12,000. These plans were thrown into doubt by the Welsh Government's rejection of the project in 2007.[3]

In July 2011, the newly promoted Merthyr Town FC hosted Welsh Premier League side Llanelli in a pre-season friendly at Penydarren Park, and thereafter took up full-time residency.
